1. Acceptance of terms

Welcome to the website of the Australian Foundation for Disaster Relief (AFDR).

By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and any applicable laws and regulations.

If you do not agree with these terms, please discontinue use of the website.

2. About AFDR

AFDR is an Australian not-for-profit organisation established to support disaster relief, recovery and rehabilitation initiatives.

AFDR raises funds, develops partnerships and facilitates support for organisations engaged in disaster response and recovery activities.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, AFDR is not a direct provider of emergency response, rescue or frontline disaster relief services.

3. Permitted website use

Visitors may use this website for lawful purposes, including accessing information about AFDR, learning about fundraising initiatives, making enquiries and supporting relevant activities.

Users must not:

  • Use the website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to website systems or information.

  • Introduce malicious software or interfere with website functionality.

  • Misrepresent an association with AFDR.

  • Reproduce or commercially exploit website content without authorisation.

AFDR reserves the right to restrict access where necessary to protect the website, its users or the organisation.

4. Donations

Donations made to AFDR are voluntary contributions intended to support its charitable objectives and relevant fundraising initiatives.

By making a donation, you confirm that you are authorised to use the selected payment method and that the information provided is accurate.

Where a donation is made in response to a specific appeal, AFDR will seek to apply the funds in accordance with the stated purpose and any conditions communicated to donors.

The allocation and distribution of donations remain subject to applicable laws, operational requirements and any restrictions attached to the funds.

5. Changes to fundraising circumstances

Disaster relief and recovery requirements may change as situations develop.

Where a specific fundraising initiative is completed, becomes impracticable or no longer requires the anticipated level of support, AFDR will determine the appropriate treatment of remaining funds in accordance with applicable law, the terms of the appeal and any commitments made to donors.

Where required, AFDR will seek donor consent or provide appropriate information about any proposed change in the use of restricted donations.

6. Donation refunds

Donations are generally final once successfully processed, subject to applicable law.

AFDR recognises that errors may occur and will consider requests for refunds where:

  • A donation was made in error.

  • An incorrect amount was processed.

  • A duplicate transaction occurred.

  • A payment was made without proper authorisation.

  • A refund is otherwise required by law.

Refund requests should be submitted promptly to [Official email address], together with the relevant transaction details.

Each request will be assessed on its circumstances. Approved refunds will ordinarily be returned through the original payment method, where practicable.

7. Donation receipts and tax deductibility

AFDR will provide donation acknowledgements or receipts as applicable to its fundraising arrangements.

The tax deductibility of donations depends on AFDR’s applicable Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) endorsement and the nature of the donation.

Donors should not assume that a contribution is tax deductible unless this is expressly confirmed by AFDR and supported by its relevant tax status.

8. Third-party payment services

Where online donations are enabled, payments may be processed through an external payment service provider.

The processing of payments may be subject to the provider’s own terms, conditions and privacy practices.

AFDR is not responsible for interruptions or technical failures within third-party payment systems except to the extent required by applicable law.

9. Intellectual property

The content, branding, text, images, graphics and other materials on this website are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Unless otherwise stated, these materials belong to AFDR or are used under appropriate permission or licence.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

AFDR makes reasonable efforts to provide reliable website information but does not warrant that the website will always be error-free, complete or uninterrupted.

To the extent permitted by law, AFDR is not liable for losses arising solely from reliance on general website information, temporary service interruptions or the actions of independent third parties.
